Good news for Rapido y Furioso

Today our F1 car arrived! I was amazed at how small and light the car actually was. The next stage is getting a company to spray paint the car for us. Currently we are working on our report and organizing our stand for next Friday, the 8th March. Our sponsors ITB will also be there on the day to support us, so we are all looking forward to it.

Rápido y Furioso's Car design #2

At the moment my F1 group Rápido y Furioso are designing our car which we will submit to the manufacturers by the end of the week. 

Today we were working on our Car Design number 2. We have made quite a few changes compared to our first design. We have shaped the nose cone to make the car more aerodynamic. We have also added air channels to increase the aerodynamics of the car. We have also been working on the front airflow of the car. However, we plan to make the front of the airflow rounder so that the air flows over the car. We also plan to create some air channels underneath the car to add more aerodynamics. We will also be adding the wheels to our design with in the net few days as our design must be emailed to Limerick University by Friday.

F1 in Schools - Here we Come!!!

This week we got fantastic news that our F1 project qualified to the regional final! We were thrilled as we were one of the two teams selected out of the entire year! The judges gave us some very good convective criticism to work on for the Finals which will be held some time in March of this year. however we have a lot of work to do before then. Firstly we have to finalize the car designs and send it to our manufacture. Then we have to source sponsors and begin to fund-raise and advertise for our group. we have our work cut out for us but it should be good fun! :)

Rápido y Furioso

This year in technology everyone must enter the formula 1 racing competition called "F1 in Schools". Everyone is in either a group of 5 or 6 people. Within every group there are different roles allocated to each person. These include; Managing director, Design Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Resources Manager and Marketing Manager. There are five members in my team. Our team name is Rapido y Furioso and my role in the group is the team manager. Our name means Fast and Furious in Spanish! We choose to use a graffiti background to match some of the streets in Spain.

Each group has to research into the factors that can influence the design of the car. The design engineer then has to come up with a design that satisfies all  requirements. The team also has to write up their plan or strategy for advertising, marketing, fundraising, and sponsorship. All of this information is then compiled into one portfolio which we will send in on Friday. Only 2 teams out of our entire year with qualify for the next round, so fingers crossed!
